Kavala City Architecture

The most interesting architecture of the city is romantic baroque and neogothic of late 19th century. The neogothic Mansion of Herzog (1895), the neogothic Mansion of Baron Wix (1899) and the Baroque "Grand Club"(1909), they are a three building-complex in the municipal garden in the heart of kavala city.


The Baroque "Grand Club"(1909). It is a copy of the wing of the Music Hall (Musikverein) of Vienna it is one of the finest baroque buildings and unique in Greece. Today, in the ground floor, art exhibitions take place frequently, while the upper floor hosts music concerts.


Mansion of Pierre Herzog (1895). It wad build in 1895 by the Hungarian tobacco merchant Pierre Herzog. It is a fine example of gothic renaissance (neogothic). Today the building belongs to the municipality of the city.

Mansion of Baron Adolf Wix (1899). It wad build in 1899 by the Baron Adolf Wix. It is a fine example of gothic renaissance (neogothic). Today the building belongs to the municipality of the city.
